The Rice Crispy Treat Massacre


I had a bit of an accident in the kitchen when making these rice crispy treats! A mad man broke in and went crazy for these lovely little morsels!

Everyone loves rice crispy cake, so for Halloween make them a bit more gruesome with this orange blood icing. If all blood tasted like this icing I'd become a vampire too!

Ingredients
For the rice crispy cake:
50g light muscovado sugar
75g unsalted butter
100g golden syrup
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
50g marshmallows
150g rice crispies

For the icing:
50g icing sugar
juice of half an orange
1 teaspoon of red food colouring

HOW TO MAKE
Put the sugar, butter, vanilla, syrup and marshmallows in a large pan and simmer until the marshmallows have disappeared. Turn off the heat and add the rice crispies. Mix well and pour onto two greased, square cake trays. Leave to cool.

Now make the icing. Sieve the icing sugar into a bowl and gradually add the orange juice until you've got the right consistency. Now add the food colouring. Cut the rice crispies into squares and drizzle on the wicked blood icing! Now wait for your Trick or Treaters!
